Yard of the month
Despite the drought and limited watering the city allows, many of the homes in the HOA have been very well maintained. The winner for the Calloway’s sponsored Yard of the Month program for April was Joe and Phyllis Simanek at 7512 Zurich Dr., May’s winner was Russ and Cindy Amy at 7801 Hamburg and Perry and Kerry Arthur at 7513 Zurich won for the month of June. These monthly winners received at $50 gift card from Calloway’s. Remember to check on the OWG website for a $5 coupon from Calloway’s in the YOM tab. Thank you Calloway’s for sponsoring this contest and thank you homeowners for taking so much pride in your community. It makes for a tough choice every month.
We also want to thank Rosemary Weiland for taking over the Coordinator position for the YOM contest. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer for this worthwhile contest!
We are in a stage 3 watering restrictions. Remember to water on your appropriate days. Odd number addresses water every other Tuesday and even numbered addresses water every other Thursday. Check the city website for a complete calendar for the stage 3 watering schedule: https://www.plano.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4688
Coyotes and bobcats are just a few of the wild animals seen in our community. These animals are usually not a threat if they are left alone. Please respect the urban wildlife for your safety, your children’s safety, and any animals you may have with you at the time of spotting.
OWG Monthly Board Meeting
The OWG board continues to meet the third Thursday of the month at the Clubhouse at 6:30. If you have an item to discuss or would like to be added to the agenda, please contact the management company at 972-248-2238 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Contact Michele for the Board’s summer schedule. Depending on vacations the July or August meeting could be cancelled.
State law requires OWG to have a phone line on each side of the fence at the pool. The phones located inside and outside the gate are direct lines to 9-1-1. Whenever the receiver is picked up, it goes directly to a 9-1-1 operator. Many times people will pick it up, hear the emergency operator, and quickly hang up the phone. A policeman is always dispatched to the scene when this happens. Please refrain from picking up the emergency phone unless there is an emergency at the pool.
Thank You Volunteers!
Thank you to Chelle Barker for coordinating the second annual Movie Night by the Pool on May 22nd. Everyone had a great time. Way to go Chelle!
Thanks to Sebron Hood who has once again agreed to host the Annual Summer Picnic. This year’s picnic will be held at the pool area on Saturday, July 12th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. There will be a cook out and a DJ for entertainment and games for the kids. We look forward to seeing you all there!
We always need volunteers so if you are interested please contact Michele Hernandez at email@example.com. There is money in the budget for more social events so if you have ideas for an event and time to share we encourage you to get involved!
The Oakwood Glen pool area is a great place to spend time in the summer. We want to ensure that everyone enjoys their time at the pool and tennis courts and ask that you follow a few simple rules. Balloons and water balloons are not permitted. The balloons are very hard on the pool equipment and they also melt on the concrete in the hot sun. When they melt they have to be scraped off of the pool deck. Squirt guns are fine but please leave the balloons at home.
Smoking is not permitted inside the pool enclosure. An ash urn has been provided next to the parking lot outside of the pool area.
Glass of any kind is not permitted. If glass is broken inside the pool enclosure or inside the pool it can be very dangerous. If glass breaks in the pool, the facility has to be closed down and the pool has to be drained for cleaning and refilling. This can take 2 days. During that time the pool and tennis courts cannot be used, so please leave your glass containers at home!
The pool and clubhouse facilities are very popular this time of year. There are 326 families that are members of the Swim & Racquet Club. In order for everyone to have quality time at the facility, the rules allow for each family to bring up to 6 guests. If you have more than 6 guests you are required to rent the clubhouse and pay for additional swimmers. Your cooperation with this rule and consideration of your neighbors in this regard will be greatly appreciated! Don’t forget, you must accompany your guests when they are using any of the OWG facilities.
Have a safe and happy summer!
