Cropping at the Clubhouse

Next crop and craft get-together is October 1st at 9:30.

Looking for a place to crop??  We are starting a scrapbooking and
craft/stamping get-together at the clubhouse on the first and third
Wednesdays of the month.  Our first crop will be this Wednesday, the
17th, from 9:30am to 1:30pm.   Please come join us and tell all your
fellow cropping neighbors.  Digital scrapbookers, stampers, card makers,
everybody is welcome.

If you are doing digital, don't forget to bring an extension cord for
your computer.  If you have a table, you might want to bring it as I
believe there are only 4 or 5 at the clubhouse.  We have plenty of
chairs, though!

If you have any questions, please e-mail Lori Ruml at ruml@verizon.net

Coffee, tea, water and muffins or munchies will be provided.

Hope to see you Wednesday!

National Night Out

Mark your calendars for Texas National Night Out on Tuesday, October 7th.
Oakwood Glen residents are encouraged to coordinate with their Block Captains
to plan events for their block. It is an evening to get out of the house and chat with your neighbors. Representatives from the Plano Police Department are scheduled to visit OWG on National Night Out. Check out the members section of the neighborhood website to get your Block Captain's contact info.

Citizens Police Academy

The Plano Citizens Police Academy offers an in-depth look at life from our side of the badge. We offer you the opportunity to ride with a patrol officer for a shift, learn what its like to make a split-second, life-or-death decision during our shoot/dont shoot exercises and drive a real police car on our driving course. Class meets every Thursday night from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. for 13 weeks.  You are allowed to miss up to three classes and still graduate.  To attend, you must live or work in Plano, be out of high school and over 18 years of age. Our next class starts September 11, 2008. For more information, please contact:

Halloween Party

The annual Halloween party is scheduled for Saturday, October 25. Carl and Virginia Sullivan will once again be hosting this fun filled family event. They are looking for adult helpers. Please give the Sullivans a call at 972-527-4246 if you can help.

Tennis Court Lights

The new light poles for the upper tennis court have arrived and are being installed. The upper tennis court will be temporarily closed while the poles are being installed. The lower court is still open.

Yard of the Month

Congratulations to our board treasurer and his wife, James and Marie Cooper at 2129 London Dr. for winning the Calloways Yard of the Month contest.

Landscaping

If you were one of the unfortunate ones to have lost any trees or bushes in the spring storms, now is the time to be thinking of replacing them. The cooler weather is an ideal time to be planting trees. Our covenants states that each yard needs two trees with a minimum 2 inch caliper. If you have any questions, please contact the management company.

Website

Remember to check the website occasionally throughout the month as there may be updates or information that will not reach you any other way. One of the goals of the website is to take the load off of the block captains in sending out emails. By using the website we know that everyone will be getting Oakwood Glen information.
