Storm Damage Procedure for Landscape Debris Removal

The City of
Plano will be collecting tree limbs and other brush damaged in the February 10-12 snow storm during regular weekly residential yard trimming collections. Due to the potential for excessive brush, the route driver may need to return the following week to collect any remaining brush.

To report a tree blocking a street or alley, contact the Public Works Department at 972-769-4140.

Residents are responsible for preparing residential debris for collection. Place tree limbs and brush at your normal collection point before
7:00am on your collection day.

To enable manual collection, tree limbs and brush must be placed in manageable, orderly piles. Lay limbs in the same direction, cut not to exceed six-foot (6) in length and weighing no more than 50 pounds each. Piles are to be no larger than four-feet (4) wide, four-feet (4) high and six-feet (6) long. Separate the tree trunks and large limbs from other brush and place next to piles. Depending on size, limbs and trunks may require the use of specialized equipment.

Leaves, plant materials and grass clippings must be placed in City-approved biodegradable bags weighing no more than 50 pounds and are to be placed within clear sight of the collection point away from the refuse cart. Special collection scheduling is available, for an additional fee, by calling 972-769-4150.

As a
Plano resident, you may take materials to the Custer Road Facility, 9901 Custer Road, free of charge for composting. You must show your drivers license and a copy of your most recent Plano water billing. Hours of operations are Monday through Saturday, 8:00am until 4:30pm.

Annual Meeting

The Oakwood Glen annual meeting will be Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the clubhouse.  Soon you will be receiving your proxy in the mail. Please sign it and send it back to the management company. It is very expensive to hold a second meeting if we do not meet a quorum. If you have any questions, please call Advanced Association Management at 972-248-2238.

The clubhouse will be closed February 23rd, 24th , and 25th

for foundation repair.

We have had some complaints from neighbors surrounding the clubhouse of loud noise and disruptive behavior. Please be considerate of the neighborhood when renting the clubhouse.

Doggie Bags

To cut expenses, the City of Plano will no longer be providing doggie bags at city parks.  After the city put up the doggie bag receptacle several years ago on Hove and Waasland, the park has been much cleaner. Oakwood Glen will continue to supply the park with doggie bags. Marie Karan has been our volunteer to keep the receptacle full. We appreciate the job she does. Please do not waste these bags, use them for the purpose of cleaning up after your pet.

Yard of the Month

We have had some great looking yards this past year. Thanks to Calloways Nursery for sponsoring this program. Check in the Yard of the Month section of our website for helpful gardening hints and each months winner this past year.

Christmas Decorations

The winners of the 2009 Christmas decorating contest were:

1st Place 7621 Hove        Mike and Lee Villalobos

2nd Place 7631 Hove       Forrest and Tammy Dillon

3rd Place 7504 Benelux   David and Peggy Schmidt

(A friendly reminderif anyone still has their Christmas decorations up, its time they come down).

Unfortunately, we have been having break-ins, vandalism, and theft in our neighborhood. Remember to keep your garage doors closed and house doors locked, even when you are home. Be alert around you. Get to know your neighbors. If you see anything suspicious, call 9-1-1. Let the police determine if the situation is serious.
