August 2013 - Newsletter
Several neighbors would like the issue of safety and security brought up in a newsletter. We talk about this quite often, but it is always worth a repeat. The past several weeks our neighborhood has been the victim of home and vehicle break-ins. Please be aware of any suspicious vehicles or people in the neighborhood. Call 9-1-1 and let the police determine if there is a security issue. Never leave anything in your vehicle if it is parked in your driveway or on the street. It only takes seconds for a car window to be smashed and anything in plain view to be stolen. The same goes with parking at the clubhouse, never leave anything in your car. Open garage doors are an open invitation for theft. We recently had a neighbor realize his power tools were missing when he went to use his drill and it was gone, along with several other tools. He had no idea when his tools were stolen, but he admitted he keeps his garage door open quite often, especially while mowing his yard or doing other work in his fenced back yard. If you notice a neighbor's garage door open and you feel they have forgotten to shut it, give them a call. Everyone has a neighborhood directory and most everyone's phone number is in it. Even if it is late at night, I am sure the call would be appreciated if it were to prevent a burglary.
One of the most frequent complaints I receive is about dog waste in people's yards. It is a Plano Ordinance that dog owners are required to pick up after their dog. Homeowners do not want to clean up after someone else's dog, especially if they do not even own a dog. Don't forget about picking up in your own yard, front and back. Please be considerate of your neighbors and clean up after your pet. OWG supplies the doggie bags along with a trash can located in the park at the corner of Hove and Waasland. Thanks to Roger Holland, the bags have been fully stocked all summer.
Upcoming Events and Social Committee
OWG First Annual Family Movie Night! Bring the entire family to the clubhouse Thursday, August 22nd for our very first Dive-In Movie Night! Feel free to bring your own blankets or chairs to sit upon the ground, or your own floats to watch the movie from the pool. You are welcome to bring your own snacks, but please remember food of any kind is not allowed in the pool. The movie will start between 8:00-8:15 PM. Check the Facebook page (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information as we get closer to the date.
Now is the time to begin that attic or garage project you have been procrastinating about. Our Neighborhood Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. In a couple weeks more information will be sent to you about the sale.
Thank you to Sebron Hood for coordinating the annual Family Picnic this summer. Everyone had a fun time, and the food was good. Thanks again Sebron.

The ACC form can be found on the website and then going to members only tab, then scroll down to forms.
Monthly Board Meeting
There will not be a board meeting in August. The next monthly board meeting will be September 19th at 6:30 at the clubhouse. Contact the management company (email@example.com) if you would like something added to the agenda.
